So You Think You Can Dance Week 8

It’s the penultimate week. Which means that after next week, no more “Fink Ya Dance” (as my daughter calls it) until next summer. I think I might cry.

Guest judge: Debbie Allen

The couples dance two dances and they each do a solo. No time for filler tonight, just a lotta dancing!

Pasha and Lacey
Hip-hop choreographed by Dave Scott
In the Morning: Junior Boys

What a fun, creative routine! I thought they were terrific. LOVE the Pasha!

Sabra
Rock Your Soul: Elisa

One of the judges once called her Sabra full of grace, and she really is. Such beautiful lines. It’s a joy to watch her.

Danny and Lauren
Contemporary choreographed by Mia Michaels
Then You Look at Me: Celine Dion

Danny just absolutely outdanced her. He is a beautiful dancer with beautiful lines and she’s just too choppy and frenetic for me.

Pasha
Total Eclipse of the Heart: Bonnie Tyler

Last time he danced a solo, he used a cape for his partner and this time he used a dress on a form. Smart dancing to use props when you’re used to having a partner and you have to dance solo.

Neil and Sabra
Jazz choreographed by Mandy Moore
Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This): Eurythmics

Very interesting to use a table for a prop and the outfits, too. They stayed in character very well and the choreography really worked with the music.

Lauren
Sorry: Maria Mena

I don’t know what to say about Lauren. I just don’t feel the same way watching her dance as I do the others. I’m well beyond ready for her to be gone.

Pasha and Lacey
Smooth Waltz choreographed by Hunter Johnson
A Daisy in December: Mick McAuley and Winifred Horan

I’ve really been looking forward to seeing Pasha and Lacey dance together, and this is why. Simply lovely and very different from anything else Lacey has done this season.

Neil
Out of My Hands: Dave Matthews Band

I thought for a change that there was a flow to Neil’s solo, rather than just a bunch of tricks thrown together.

Danny and Lauren
Disco choreographed by Doriana Sanchez
Don’t Leave Me This Way: The Communards

This was probably my least favorite routine of the night (so far). It felt really slow and just lacking a bit of spark. It was a difficult routine, and they danced it well, but there was just something missing for me.

Lacey
Le Disco: Shiny Toy Guns

This was a much better solo than what she did last week. Thank goodness.

Neil and Sabra
Paso Doble choreographed by Tony Meredith
Espana Cani: Juan and Gennaro

Neil in leather pants. That might be the stuff dreams are made of. Or not. But love the Benji/Heidi move at the end! Good schtuff!

Danny
The Fear You Won’t Fall: Joshua Radlin

That boy sure gets some height on his jumps. Oh yeah.

Well this might be a toughie. Who would I like to see in the final 4? Lacey, Sabra and Pasha, and I can’t choose between Neil and Danny. It’s really hard to tell because I think Pasha has only been in the bottom 3 once and Neil and Danny have both been there a few times. I have a feeling Lauren will finally go bye bye since Lacey has never been in the bottom 3 and everyone seems to be in Sabra love nowadays. So we shall see. We shall see.

And apparently we have to wait until MONDAY to see the results and have a triple dose of SYTYCD next week. Something about football. Isn’t it still summer?

Frenetic was the exact word I used to describe Lauren tonight! Good riddance!
