It’s the Top 10 and everything’s changing this week. New partners; all the dancers do solos (the same routine for each dancer choreographed by Wade Robson); the judges have no more say in who stays or who goes; and you’re voting for individual dancers rather than couples. This is where it gets really interesting!
Guest Judge: Mia Michaels
Lauren and Pasha
Hip-Hop choreographed by Shane Sparks
Fuego: Pitbull
Very bizarre routine, but I actually liked it. I thought that Pasha did really well considering this is WAY far out of his comfort zone. And Lauren was slightly less annoying than normal. It wasn’t spectacular, but it was fun!
Solo: Jaimie
Waiting on the World to Change: John Mayer
There were some really nice parts to this dance, but a lot of it just felt frenetic and wild to me. Which could be the choreography, but still, it felt like two different pieces kind of thrown together to me. We’ll see how the rest of the similar solos go.
Solo: Dominic
Somehow I liked the frenetic wildness of this better when Dominic did it. But the scream thing in the middle is really distracting? Annoying? Unnecessary? Stupid?
Sabra and Kameron
Contemporary choreographed by Tyce DiOrio
Amazing Grace: Crystal Lewis
I think they danced this well - especially Sabra who is just beautiful on the dance floor - but I really didn’t love the choreography. It just felt too busy for this song. It’s a simple song and it needed simple choreography and it was just too much for my taste.
Solo: Sara
I actually like Sara’s interpretation of this as well, so maybe it was just Jaimie’s performance that felt frenetic and wild. And I’m not caring too much for the whole “everybody dance the same choreography” idea. It’s getting really old really fast.
Solo: Pasha
Not bad. Not great, but not bad. But then I love Pasha, so I just like to watch him dance no matter what it is. ;)
Lacey and Danny
Samba choreographed by Dmitry Chaplain
Hip Hip Chin Chin: Club Des Belugas
Her shoes are weird. The music is kind of bizarre. Maybe it was having the luscious Lacey as a partner, but Danny was not as closed off as he has been in the past. Or maybe he’s just getting more likable. But fun routine - liked it!
Solo: Lauren
This solo actually suited Lauren’s style really well. Still don’t really like her, but I dislike her less than I have in past weeks. But the scream thing has. to. go. UGH! Wade, what were you THINKING? Dancers aren’t supposed to scream. They’re supposed to dance.
Solo: Neil
Neil has some beautiful leaps. He did a nice job. But this routine is really beginning to put. me. to. sleep. Stupid idea producers. STUPID.
Solo: Sabra
Sabra was lovely as always and she gave the best scream. Even though the whole scream thing is STUPID and LAME and RIDICULOUS. I’m really running out of nice things to say because I’m bored of this.
Solo: Kameron
Not one of my favorites (not that any of them are my favorites, but you know what I mean). I could really see what the judges were saying about Kameron’s extensions. Something he definitely needs to work on.
Jaimie and Dominic
Viennese Waltz choreographed by Toni Redpath
Man of La Mancha: Linda Eder (love her!!)
This didn’t feel like a Viennese Waltz at all to me. But I think this was mostly the fault of the choreographer. They did okay with what they were given, but they weren’t really given that much in my humble opinion. And there was like zero chemistry between them. Dominic needs his Sabra!!!
Solo: Lacey
Um, I think this was okay, but to be honest, I really wasn’t paying all that much attention because I was trying to explain to my husband that yes indeed they were supposed to scream in the middle and the music was supposed to stop so they could do the stupid scream thing.
Solo: Danny
I’m sure this was an amazing solo, but all I could think of was that it was finally the last one. Thank God.
Note to the Producers: DO NOT EVER DO THAT AGAIN.
Sara and Neil
Disco choreographed by Doriana Sanchez
Knock on Wood: Rachel Stevens
Sara makes me happy when I watch her. She is one of my favorites. Neil did a good job, but it was really hard for me to take my eyes off of Sara. He supported her well, though.
I have absolutely no clue who is going to go home, but my favorites were Lacey & Danny and Sara & Neil. And Lauren & Pasha were fun, too. My least favorite was Jaimie & Dominic (I’m sorry Dominic!!).
