So You Think You Can Dance Week 4

Tonight it’s the Top 14 and the judges are: Adam Shankman (who choreographed the soon-to-be-released movie Hairspray), Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe.

There was apparently a petition from the viewers to get Jessi back because America didn’t put her in the bottom 3, but of course that didn’t work. Bottom line, she couldn’t compete when it was time to compete and it’s not fair to save her over someone who could and did, so the decision stands.

Lacey and Kameron
Hustle choreographed by Maria Torres
Ain’t No Mountain High Enough: Inner Life

They really have a nice partnership going on and I really liked this dance. The only criticism I can give it is that the music didn’t have as much of a wow factor as I would have liked. But they did a great job with the partnering.

Shauna and Cedric
Mambo choreographed by Alex da Silva
Flauta y Timbal: Tito Puente

I can tell that Cedric worked hard on this. I can also tell that Shauna was helping him a lot. A LOT. And I don’t think his costume did him any favors. This wasn’t great, but I think it was the best of his non-hip hop dances. Not up to par with the other dancers, but he did make some forward progress at least. Shauna was terrific, though!

Anya and Danny
Contemporary choreographed by Tyce DiOrio
Apologize: One Republic

They definitely danced this beautifully, and they may be the only couple that has the maturity to have pulled it off, but…I don’t know…I just didn’t really feel the connection between them in this dance. No passion between them. Both had passion on their own, but it didn’t connect with the other.

Sara and Pasha
West Coast Swing choreographed by Benji Schwimmer
The Rockafeller Skank: Fatboy Slim

WHAT a fun routine! WOW! Pasha is just a superb partner who brings the best out in his partner. And this is amazing considering this is their first week working together. And great choreography from the Benjinator! Woot!

Sabra and Dominic
Hip-Hop choreographed by Shane Sparks
Make it Work: Ne-Yo

Cute routine! Love Sabra and Dominic - they are so sweet together and we all know that I’m not a huge fan of hip-hop, but I loved this one! Brilliant, subtle, soft choreography. Go Shane!

Jaimie and Hok
Waltz choreographed by Toni Redpath
Angel: Sarah McLachlan

I’m sure the posture wasn’t perfect and blah blah blah, but there were some beautiful lines in the dance and some lovely emotion. Not bad.

Lauren and Neil
Jazz choreographed by Wade Robson
Night of the Dancing Flame: Roisin Murphy

There’s just something I don’t like about this pair for some reason. And even though I usually like Wade’s choreography, I didn’t particularly care for this routine. They danced it well, but somehow they just don’t seem to connect with the audience. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is about them that turns me off.

My favorite dancers tonight were Pasha & Sara and Kameron & Lacey. My bottom two would have to be Cedric & Shauna and Hok & Jaimie (*sniffle*).
