It’s another night on the dance floor…
Did you notice there were more guys than girls in the intros? More on that later.
Judges: Debbie “Fame” Allen, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe
Sara and Jesus
Krump - choreographed by LiL ‘C
It’s Okay (One Blood) - The Game
I really do like Jesus, but my eyes kept going to Sara in this dance because she really had the attitude going on and she really killed it. Jesus’ dancing didn’t seem quite as sharp or quite as aggressive. But I think overall, they did a very good job. Either way, it was a million times better than the krumping routine from last season.
Shauna and Cedric
Contemporary - choreographed by Mia Michaels
I Thought We Had - The Family Stand
So was Shauna’s slide off the stage part of the choreography or not? Her body language led me to believe it wasn’t at first, but I think it was just really great acting and emotion. I liked this performance because there was just so much raw emotion going on. But, it was kind of all over the place and I agree with the judges that it seemed like Mia gave Cedric the choreography that he could do rather than trying to get him to stretch. I have mixed feelings on this. But Shauna was great.
Lacey and Kameron
Quick Step - choreographed by Tony Meredith
Big and Bad - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Kind of a bizarre song choice for the quick step and a little slow for my taste, but they had a lot of good energy and it was fun to watch. And it was nice to see Kameron with his hair all slicked back as well.
Anya and Danny
Hip Hop - choreographed by Dan Karaty
Oh Timbaland - Timbaland
I just love Danny’s long arms and long legs - he’s just so pretty to watch. And the hands. That was mentioned by the judges last week and I have to agree. Love Danny’s hands. I really like Danny. And I think Anya did a decent job considering this is soooo far outside her comfort zone. They pulled it off. I think they are kind of the Benji and Donyelle of season 3 - a really good team that works well together. And besides, Danny is about the only one who doesn’t have to look up to Cat.
Sabra and Dominic
Rumba - choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereux
Stickwitu - Pussycat Dolls
Wow. I think, especially considering neither of them have done any kind of ballroom or Latin dancing before, they did an amazing job. It was sexy and there was chemistry and Dom held his posture pretty well and Sabra just looked lovely as always. I’m really proud of them! My favorite of the night so far, and I think America is falling in love with them. Or they better be!
Lauren and Neil
Tango - choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereux
Tanguera - Sexteto Major
I don’t know if it was the music or what, but I was just not really feeling this. These two have like zero chemistry. And it didn’t really feel like a Tango to me so much. Didn’t like it.
Jaimie and Hok
Jazz - choreographed by Wade Robson
The Chairman’s Waltz - Memoirs of a Geisha
The music and the choreography were perfect. Just wow. They really brought to life his vision. And he built this for them so well. Stunning.
Not Jessi and Pasha
Cha-cha - choreographed by Tony Meredith
Let’s Get Loud - Jennifer Lopez
Jessi was rushed to the hospital this morning (or actually the morning of the taping which was Monday) and ordered to rest, so Pasha danced with the choreographer’s assistant instead. It was weird to see him dancing with someone else who he had absolutely no chemistry with. But cha-cha is Pasha’s dance. He was sexy and hot and did a terrific job.
By the way, the choreographer’s assistant is actually Melanie LaPatin who is Tony Meredith’s former partner and fellow Latin champion. And she was featured on What Not to Wear a couple of years ago if she looks familiar to you for some reason.
So Jessi will dance for her life no matter what and if she can’t, she’ll be cut. Which is a shame because they have some amazing chemistry.
My favorite was Jaimie and Hok, followed by Sabra and Dominic.
My least favorite was Neil and Lauren, and I think a few of the couples that actually did a good job with what they were given will be overshadowed by the more memorable routines.
Neil and Lauren were our least favorite as well, but we didn’t like Anya and Danny at all either. We love hip-hop over here and just felt like they butchered the hip hop.
Kameron and Lacey are our favorite couple by far. They ahve such great chemistry, but really we thought everyone did great except for the two couples mentioned above!
AND>? We LOVE this show! I love it way more than American Idol. Way more! I can’t believe with a dancer in the house we missed the first two seasons!
