So You Think You Can Dance Finale Part 1

It’s the last night of competition. Oh how I shall miss you best competition show on television!!

Four dancers left and every dancer will dance with every other dancer. And do a solo.

Cat looks like a galleon tonight!

Guest Judge: Dan Karaty

Two hours to fill, so let’s start with some flashbacks shall we? Not that we have a choice or anything if we’re watching live.

Top 4
Broadway choreographed by Tyce DiOrio
Mein Herr: Liza Minnelli (Caberet Soundtrack)

What can I say? This is a terrific song to dance to, with the tempo changes and great choreography. And can those boys leap or what? Wow!

This week, Cat interviews all the contestants about their experience on the show. First up, Lacey. And a solo to Daft Punk’s Technologic.

Sabra and Neil
Hip-hop choreographed by Shane Sparks
Whine Up: Kat DeLuna

I like Sabra and Neil a lot. But this routine didn’t really do much for me and I think part of the problem was the choreography, but also they didn’t really seem to have much chemistry going on.

Lacey and Danny
Viennese Waltz choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereux
Keep Holding On: Avril Lavigne

Such! Beautiful! Lines! And the perfect choreography for the song. Just a gorgeous routine. Lovely.

Next interview/solo: Neil. Gravity: Shawn McDonald

Sabra and Lacey
Jazz choreographed by Wade Robson
Koyal (Songbird): Nitin Sawhney

Mommy fox and baby fox. Bizarre, but always interesting. Not what I would have preferred to see them dance together, though.

Now it’s time to talk to Danny! And then watch his solo! We Are the Champions: Gavin DeGraw (I just have to say that it’s ridiculous how many spins he can do.)

Neil and Danny
Contemporary choreographed by Mia Michaels
Are You the One?: The Presets

The lighting was really really annoying. Maybe it was just my television, but they looked downright evil at the beginning. Definitely a very masculine dance and it was danced well. Way too much testosterone for me, though!

And the last interview/solo is Sabra! Wonderful World: James Morrison

Lacey and Neil
Lindy Hop choreographed by Nick Williams and Kristen Sorci
Bill’s Bounce: The Big Elliott Swing Orchestra

I think they may be the only two dancers this season that could have pulled off this routine. Not as crisp as seasoned lindy hoppers would do, but wow. That last throw was money!

Sabra and Danny
Cha-Cha choreographed by Melanie LaPatin
Gotta Get Down: Celia Cruz

A lot of fun choreography and some great chemistry. A fun way to end the show and I’m glad we finally got to see them dance together!

So, that ends the competition portion of the season. And I have no idea who is going to win this. Last season, it was pretty clear who the favorite dancer was and it was no surprise that Benji won, but this season, I just can’t even begin to hazard a guess, so I’ll stick with my out on a limb prediction from Monday and say a girl will finally win and it won’t be a Schwimmer Repeat.
