This will be the hardest elimination all season. Maybe ever.

The encore goes to Jennie and Derek’s Cha Cha. I agree with that choice.

Avril Lavigne and her mascara hit the stage accompanied by zero dancers and hundreds of crappy camera cues. Could they maybe have stayed on one person long enough to not make me seasick? I don’t normally notice camerawork, so it must have been pretty darn bad.

And if the camerawork wasn’t bad enough, then we got Samantha attempting to conduct an intelligent interview. Not sure which one was worse.

And the first results of the night…

Marie and Jonathan are…safe!

Which should mean Jennie is going home. But, stranger things have happened in the ballroom. (Can you say Sabrina?)

Kenny Mayne investigates dance rehab. Which means no Jimmy Kimmel and Guillermo. That alone was enough to me happy, but the fact that the piece was amusing was even better! Didn’t hurt that Lisa Rinna, Harry Hamlin, Tucker Carlson and Laila Ali were in it, either.

The Lord of the Dance himself, Michael Flatley, graces the ballroom. Now that was a 10.

Avril’s back, but this time she and her mascara are joined by Mark Ballas and Sabrina Bryan.

Helio and Julianne are…safe! Yay!

And so that, of course, means that…

Jennie and Derek are…going home.

I’m sad that Jennie had to leave right after she had her big breakthrough. But at least she went out on a high note. Perhaps Jennie was more deserving of being in the finals than Marie, but that’s debatable. Marie is an entertainer and she is a joy to watch even if she’s not technically the best dancer. That being said, I don’t think Marie deserves to win. That should be Mel B or Helio and I’m pulling just slightly for Mel because it’s time for a woman to win this thing already!
