Dancing with the Stars Week 8

Only five remain. Two dances. It’s getting pretty darn tough.

Jennie and Derek
Jive

Jennie really did seem a lot more confident out there after a coaching visit from Richard Simmons. Her steps weren’t as crisp as I’d like to see from the Jive. It felt a little heavy, but it was well done overall.

Judges scores: 8 + 8 + 8 = 24

My score: 8

Foxtrot

I think the Foxtrot is my favorite ballroom dance. It’s so Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and so was this routine. Beautiful, fun and well done.

Judges scores: 9 + 9 + 8 = 26

My score: 9

Cameron and Edyta
Viennese Waltz

The Viennese Waltz to Harry Potter? That is just bizarre. Come on. Edyta did make it work, but give me a break. It distracted me so much I had a hard time even watching the dance. I think it was pretty, though. Argh.

Judges scores: 9 + 9 + 9 = 27

My score: 9 for the dance and a 2 for the music.

Cha Cha

Edyta looks pretty darn good in those hip huggers. I finally realized what drives me crazy about Cameron when he dances. He has extraordinarily long arms and even though they are nicely shaped, they just seem to overpower everything when he holds them out. But a good Cha-Cha.

Judges scores: 8 + 8 + 8 = 24

My score: 8

Marie and Jonathan
Rumba

Marie got permission from Anna to be sexy with her hubby. Love love love the music. One of my favorite songs ever, although it seemed a little happy for this dance. But Marie was hot and the dance was hot and she had a tough week and Donny cried and I loved it. So there.

Judges scores: 8 + 8 + 8 = 24

My score: 8

Jive

I would have liked a little more speed, but other than that, I really liked this Jive. It kind of reminded me of Sara Evans a couple of seasons ago.

Judges scores: 8 + 9 + 8 = 25

My score: 9

Helio and Julianne
Paso Doble

Awesome music. Thank you. And boy did Helio have the attitude of the bullfighter. Wonderful wonderful. A very good paso doble, with some pretty nifty cape work.

Judges scores: 9 + 9 + 9 = 27

My score: 9

Quickstep

I smiled from beginning to end. This was so much fun, and so entertaining. I think there might have been a couple of footwork issues, but it was hard to tell for sure with Julianne’s dress and who cares anyway? This was awesome. My favorite dance of the night so far and I LOVED the music.

Judges scores: 10 + 10 + 10 = 30

My score: 10

Mel B and Maks
Tango

The music was bizarre, but I actualy liked it for a change. And I love Mel. And I really liked this dance. But what is with all the dominatrix lingerie costumes?

Judges scores: 9 + 9 + 9 = 27

My score: 9

Mambo

Mel really excels at the Latin dances and this was very very good. It didn’t have quite the wow factor that Helio’s dance had, but it was excellent. I loved the ending, too.

Judges scores: 9 + 10 + 10 = 29

My score: 10

Judges ranking
1. Helio and Julianne (27 + 30 = 57)
2. Mel B and Maks (27 + 29 = 56)
3. Cameron and Edyta (27 + 24 = 51)
4. Jennie and Derek (24 + 26 = 50)
5. Marie and Jonathan (24 + 25 = 49)

My ranking
1. Helio and Julianne (9 + 10 = 19)
2. Mel B and Maks (9 + 10 = 19)
3. Cameron and Edyta (9 + 8 = 17)
4. Marie and Jonathan (8 + 9 = 17)
5. Jennie and Derek (8 + 9 = 17)

I think Helio and Mel B will be safe and I think Cameron, Jennie and Marie are all in danger tonight. It’s a tough call. It really is.
