Everyone dances tonight and then two couples are sent home tomorrow. Will the men be as bad as they were last week (except for Mario)? Will the women be as good? Time to find out!
Steve Guttenberg and Anna Trebunskaya

Dance: Mambo
Wardrobe: Anna’s dress was cute. Steve’s suit I’m not too sure about.
Music: Good music
Performance: Steve is still a little stiff and there are some posture issues, but I’m also still crushing on him. He just looks like he’s having the time of his life out there. And he’s so charming and sweet. I want him to stick around!
Judges: Len said it was a bit like his cooking - he can see he’s trying so hard but it didn’t work for him. Bruno thought all the energy went into the facial expression.
Judges scores: 6 + 5 + 5 = 16
My score: 6
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke

Dance: Quickstep
Wardrobe: Cristian was looking good, but I didn’t really get Cheryl’s dress at all.
Music: It was okay. Not the greatest, but it worked all right.
Performance: His posture was much much better this week. The dance was lively and fun and FAST, but it was not really spectacular, just pretty good.
Judges: Carrie Ann appreciated that he worked on his posture. Len thought it had a wildness about it.
Judges scores: 7 + 6 + 7 = 20
My score: 7
Monica Seles and Jonathan Roberts

Dance: Mambo
Wardrobe: Monica looked great. Jonathan’s sleeveless look I wasn’t that into.
Music: It worked for this dance.
Performance: Monica is still a little gawky and awkward and self-conscious, but she’s really trying and I have a lot of respect for her for going so far out of her comfort zone. Really the only thing about this show that she has any experience with is the competition aspect. I’d actually like her to stick around for awhile because I’d like to see what Jonathan can do with her. It’s the dancers that aren’t as good that have the most room for improvement after all.
Judges: Bruno thought she was a like an “alternating current”. Carrie Ann thought she “attacked it”.
Judges scores: 5 + 5 + 5 = 15
My score: 5
Penn Jillette and Kym Johnson

Dance: Quickstep
Wardrobe: Great outfits
Music: Great music
Performance: Not a great performance, but better than last week. I did actually see Penn doing some dancing this time. However, the massive height difference is even more pronounced during the closed-hold dances than it is during the Latin dances. Penn is not a graceful guy, but he is entertaining. I’ll give him that.
Judges: Len said he convinced him that he was “having a go at a proper Quickstep” but his footwork was terrible.
Judges scores: 6 + 6 + 5 = 17
My score: 6
Priscilla Presley and Louis van Amstel

Dance: Mambo
Wardrobe: She reminded me of Ann-Margret. And I think Louis looks good no matter what.
Music: Very good music for this dance.
Performance: Honestly when I heard Priscilla Presley was doing this show, I didn’t have very high hopes for her dancing skills, but I am really enjoying her and she seems to be a natural dancer. And she also proved that grandmas can be sexy, too!
Judges: Carrie Ann said she was “so glamorous and so sexy”.
Judges scores: 7 + 7 + 7 = 21
My score: 7
Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough

Dance: Quickstep
Wardrobe: They looked elegant.
Music: Great song choice.
Performance: That was some challenging choreography Derek threw at her and she nailed it. Her posture was great. This was fast and exciting and not wild and my favorite dance of the night so far.
Judges: Bruno said it was “bright, dynamic, exciting” and that she is in the game.
Judges scores: 8 + 8 + 8 = 24
My score: 8
Jason Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska

Dance: Mambo
Wardrobe: Jason looked HOT! Edyta had more fabric in the ruffles than in the entire rest of her costume.
Music: Very good music for this dance (so far the music this season has been tons better than other seasons, but we haven’t gotten to Paso week yet).
Performance: The hardest part for Jason is being in the character of the dance, but I think he did a passable job this week. He certainly had the moves down. He’s a lot of fun to watch because he just looks really good on the dance floor.
Judges: Len says he’s a winner. Bruno said he was the “Mambo King tonight”.
Judges scores: 9 + 9 + 9 = 27
My score: 8
Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani

Dance: Quickstep
Wardrobe: Tony looked great. Marissa’s pink was VERY pink. Very.
Music: Awesome music
Performance: She just lights up the stage - her bubbly personality flows out of her and the room is brighter because of it. It was fast-paced, exciting and well done.
Judges: Len said she “makes him smile”.
Judges scores: 7 + 7 + 7 = 21
My score: 7
Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough

Dance: Mambo
Wardrobe: Julianne looked great and Adam looked okay.
Music: Good Mambo music.
Performance: Well, let’s just say that Julianne is a great choreographer. She takes what she has to work with and plays to whatever strengths there may be, even if the only strength is comic timing. This was, if nothing else, entertaining. Dancing wise? Not so good, but fun to watch nonetheless.
Judges: Bruno said he performed the Mambo in a way he never saw before. Len thought it was “brilliant” because it was entertaining.
Judges scores: 6 + 7 + 6 = 19
My score: 5
Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez

Dance: Quickstep
Wardrobe: Beautiful blue dress and Fabian looked great, too.
Music: Decent music for this dance.
Performance: Marlee just amazes me. She obviously has natural rhythm and natural musicality and she just happens to be deaf. There might have been a few synchronization problems here and there and I think I saw her miss a step or two, but other than that, wow. Just terrific.
Judges: Len says she has great potential to go a long way. Bruno says she has “incredible stage presence”.
Judges scores: 8 + 8 + 8 = 24
My score: 8
Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas

Dance: Mambo
Wardrobe: Hot and smokin’
Music: It worked for the most part.
Performance: Thinking about figure skating, there is definitely a lot of choreography, but there’s also a lot of skating to a position to prepare for a jump, so dancing is different, no question about that. But she has the ability to retain choreography maybe better than anyone else in the competition because she’s done it most of her life. Kristi was transcendent last week, but ballroom is more her style because she was a graceful, elegant skater. The Mambo is a little more down and dirty, but she did a great job. I loved watching her skate and I love watching her dance.
Judges: Len said she was fantastic. Bruno says she hits every beat.
Judges scores: 9 + 9 + 9 = 27
My score: 9
Mario and Karina Smirnoff

Dance: Quickstep
Wardrobe: Karina looked good, but I didn’t really care for the sleeveless tux Mario had going on.
Music: Not too bad.
Performance: Really interesting choreography and it’s nice to see that Mario takes this competition seriously and really works on his posture and footwork. He’s fun to watch and he is a contender.
Judges: Bruno said it was “so charismatic”. Carrie Ann said it was “hot”.
Judges scores: 9 + 8 + 9 = 26
My score: 9

Who will go home? I think it will be Penn and Monica because I think Julianne’s fans will keep Adam in it another week. I’ll be sad to see both Kym and Jonathan go, though!
I thought she was trying to channel Ann-Margret in Kitten With a Whip. She has always been jealous if A-M, so imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But it just reminded me how much better A-M would have done the dance.
For me it just didn’t work.
