Okay the boys were so so last night, other than a select few. Can the girls do better?
Stephanie Edwards
How Come You Don’t Call Me (Alicia Keys)
Not a bad way to start the show, but it didn’t really hold my attention with all the other stuff that was going on around me at the time. In other words, she didn’t make me say SHHHH!!! because I had to hear it.
Amy Krebs
I Can’t Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt)
This is one of my favorite songs of all time and to me it sounded pitchy and I just was not impressed at all.
Leslie Hunt
Natural Woman (Aretha Franklin)
Well, it wasn’t boring. And it wasn’t bad. And it wasn’t great. It was just okay.
Sabrina Sloan
I Never Loved a Man (Aretha Franklin)
Now this is the best vocal performance of the entire week so far. Memorable, fun and hot.
Antonella Barba
I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing (Aerosmith)
After the last vocal, she sounds pretty amateurish to me and pitchy. Not that great and way way overshadowed by the performer before her.
Jordin Sparks
Give Me One Reason (Tracy Chapman)
First off, she’s our home girl, so she gets a vote (if I bother to vote) no matter what. Sassy and cute and with a gorgeous voice. I wish she would have picked a song that showed off her higher range a tiny bit more though. But, definitely one of the better vocals of the night.
Nicole Tranquillo
Stay (Rufus and Chaka Khan)
This was a mess. Didn’t like it at all. It felt like she was trying to be something she is not.
Haley Scarnato
It’s All Coming Back to Me Now (Celine Dion)
She didn’t drown in the song, but Celine is a tough one to do. She does have a nice big voice, but it sort of felt like a Celine rehash. There was no wow factor in this.
Melinda Doolittle
Sweet Sweet Baby Since You’ve Been Gone (Aretha Franklin)
I am really rooting for Melinda. And she deserves it. My favorite vocal of the night so far. The girls are bringing it a little more than the guys were!
Alaina Alexander
Brass in Pocket (The Pretenders)
Again she is handicapped by coming after an awesome vocal and being pitchy and singing kind of a boring song.
Gina Glocksen
All By Myself (Celine Dion)
She nailed the money note, but there was a not so pretty note leading up to it. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t excite me all that much either.
Lakisha Jones
And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going (Jennifer H(olliday or udson)
All I have to say to that is: Wow. Best. vocal. of. the. week. Period.
The girls KICKED the boys butts. Big time.
I think that there are two obvious girls that may be going home: Antonella and Nicole and possibly Alaina.
But on the good side? Lakisha hands down was the best, followed by Melinda, Jordin, Sabrina and Stephanie (even though I was distracted).
The rest of them are just filler. And the boys better be bringing it next week or this is going to be a six-girl final.
Lakisha made me cry. Like sobbing. She is amazing and she has such a story. She’s been making me cry since auditions and I’m just really rooting for her. Not only did I think she had the best vocal performance of the week, I think she may have had the best vocal performance of the entire Idol series. Ever.
Jordin was awesome too and Sabrina was HOT! And I like Melinda. Lakisha’s on a whole different level though.
