American Idol FINALE Part 1

Three songs. Two Idols. One winner. Who will it be? THIS. Is American Idol.

Um, oh yeah, sorry for the drama. I’m just so excited I can’t stand it!

They called the auditions in Seattle some of the worst ever. But guess what? Both Jordin and Blake auditioned in Seattle. And this is the first season that one of the finalists is NOT from the South (although you could argue that Arizona is indeed in the southWEST). And to top off the Seattle connections, the winning song that will be the winner’s first single was written by someone from Seattle. So I guess Seattle got its revenge.

So I asked my daughter, who loves both Jordin and Blake who the winner would be and her answer was: “Jordin and Blake”. And you know what? She’s probably right. Getting to the final 2 on American Idol surely opens a lot of doors. So, they are both winners. But I still think that Jordin will win and I think Blake is better off if he doesn’t. But we shall see. We shall see.

Blake won the coin toss last week and gentleman that he is, he let Jordin choose whether or not she’d go first. And she chose to go last, so Blake is up first.

Blake Lewis
You Give Love a Bad Name

This was probably the most memorable performance all season for any of the contestants, so it makes sense that he’d choose to revisit it. I can’t say I liked it more this time than I did the first time, but I didn’t like it less. It’s a great arrangement and he’ll probably be performing it for a long time.

Jordin Sparks
Fighter (Christina Aguilera)

LOVE her outfit. Christina Aguilera is not easy to sing, but she nailed it. The vocals were a little bit too far back in the mix for me, but that wasn’t her fault, and personally I’d much rather hear Jordin sing that song than Christina.

Blake
She Will Be Loved (Maroon 5)

I really wish that Blake had chosen something a little more upbeat than this because that is where his strength really lies. I like this song, but it’s not a “wow” kind of song. And this wasn’t a “wow” kind of performance. Good, not great.

Jordin
Broken Wing (Martina McBride)

Beautiful. Nothing else to say but that.

Blake
This Is My Now

This was a challenging song for Blake, being a ballad and also being a bit rangy for him. He handled it okay, but there were some pitch problems for him. Blake is more of an entertainer than a singer. And it did show on this song. That was most definitely NOT a Blake song. And I really don’t think it’s necessary for both of them to sing the same song. They didn’t last year. So why do they need to this year? I feel for him on this one. I do.

Jordin
This Is My Now

This song cried out for a vocalist more than an entertainer (as most ballads do) and so Jordin wins the battle of this song. Hands down. And the emotion at the end just made me love her more.

And I think she just may have won American Idol with that performance. And you know what else? I am saying right here and right now that I bet she will be singing the national anthem at the superbowl next year when it’s in her hometown.

As for the song? It wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t “oh my god I can’t believe what a great song that was” but it wasn’t as bad as some of them have been.

And they close out the show with Chris Daughtry live.

Tomorrow we find out who joins the likes of Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie and Taylor.

I’m sure Jordin will win. I’m not sure I think she should have won the entire competition, but there it is. She really annoys me for whatever reason. Maybe it’s playing the “I’m only 17 card” so many freakin’ times!lol! You may be right about the superbowl though!
