One more chance to win America’s heart before the top 12 is revealed on Thursday. Who will make a good impression on 80s night? (Just don’t ruin any Duran Duran songs. I’m begging you.)
Luke Menard
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
Well, this should have been a good song for him. That is, if he hadn’t performed it like Luke the lounge singer. I have nothing much to say except that I think this is the last we will see of his pretty face.
David Archuleta
Another Day in Paradise
He’s accompanying himself on piano and of course I’m very into the instrument playing. Well, at least he was for the beginning - until the song uptempoed a bit. He did a good job vocally, but I’m not sure I really liked what he did with the song. It was not bad, but not awesome. A little boring actually.
Danny Noriega
Tainted Love
First of all, he walks like a girl. Second, this was pitchy and all over the place and really horrible. He might be going home this week.
David Hernandez
It’s All Coming Back to Me Now
There were some pitchy moments, but there were also some moments of gold as the song said. I think he has a lot of potential and this song showed off his range. And he’s definitely growing on me.
Michael Johns
Don’t You (Forget About Me)
This seems like the perfect song for him because he does kind of have that soulful vibe to him. I really really liked this. I don’t know if he can actually win the competition, but I think he’d be a great artist.
David Cook
Hello
Well, for the first part of the song I was really confused. For the second part of the song I was still a little confused, but I think I loved it and it was definitely a brave thing to do.
Jason Castro
Hallelujah
I love 80s music. I was a teenager in the 80s. It’s my music. But I’ve never heard this song before. But you know what? I loved it. Jason has some magic thing that happens when he performs, and even though there was a little pitch problem right at the end, it didn’t matter because it was a hauntingly beautiful performance. I really love Jason.
Chikezie
All the Woman I Need
They always tell the girls not to take on Whitney Houston. Well, I guess they need to tell the guys that, too. I thought it was kind of pitchy, but it wasn’t awful. It just wasn’t all that great.
My ranking this week:
1. Jason Castro
2. David Cook
3. Michael Johns
4. David Hernandez
5. David Archuleta
6. Luke Menard
7. Chikezie
8. Danny Noriega
I think anyone in my bottom 3 could be gone. I hope it’s Danny and Chikezie, because I wouldn’t mind looking at Luke another week.
No one took on Duran Duran and that kind of makes me sad and happy all at the same time. But I’m interested to see how the girls do with the 80s tomorrow!
I think I’d rank exactly as you have except with a switch of 1 and 2. My gosh! Brilliant David Cook. To take what may possibly be the cheesiest 80’s song ever and make it sound so good? I never download stuff from AI, but this one I will be. Awesome. And the Jason Castro song, I never heard it in the 80’s, but it’s in Shrek, so I’ve heard it a lot in the last few years.
and Danny the girl once again butchered one of my very favotire songs. HE MUST GO!!!!
As for Luke? I wish he was better. I thought he was terrible. And Wham songs should stay in the 80’s. The end.
Yeah, Jason and David were hard to rank…I probably should have done 1 and 1.5 again…lol! At first I thought I was going to hate Hello, but it was actually really interesting…lol!
I love Wham. I do. I love them lots. I have all their albums. However, I love them as a nostalgia kind of thing, not as a “I’d really love to hear your songs covered by other people so I can hear them forever” kind of thing. Except maybe Careless Whisper. That one might work. Or not…lol!
