Daily Reflection: 13th Day of Lent

Posted by Karin on February 20th, 2008 filed in Lent

I’m not feeling inspired by any of the readings today, so I’m going to share a song with you instead. This is “Be Forgiven” by Tom Booth. (And be sure to click on the link if you’d like to hear it or buy it.)

Be forgiven, be forgiven,
be forgiven of the sin that you hold on.
Be forgiven, be forgiven,
Jesus died and rose that you might know his love,
and be forgiven.

Jesus told you he wants your peace,
and Jesus told you he wants you healed.
Jesus lifted up the blind man.
He lifted up the dead.
He lifted those who mourn their own.
He did just what he said,
and Jesus rose for you, and he rose for me.
He died and rose that we might know his peace and

Be forgiven, be forgiven,
be forgiven of the sin that you hold on.
Be forgiven, be forgiven,
Jesus died and rose that you might know his love,
and be forgiven.

Jesus walked the miles that it took to reach us.
Jesus touched the leper that you shouldn’t touch.
Jesus wept for Lazarus.
Don’t you think he’ll do the same
for you and me, when we are dead,
and we are in our graves?
And Jesus rose for you, and he rose for me.
He died and rose that we might know his peace.

And like the woman at the well,
he looks into our eyes and tells us everything
that we have ever done.
And with the love that’s plain to see, he is calling you and me
to follow him that we might truly be

forgiven, forgiven,
forgiven of the sin that we hold on.
Be forgiven, be forgiven,
Jesus died and rose
that we might know his love, and

Be forgiven, be forgiven,
be forgiven of the sin that you hold on.
Be forgiven, be forgiven,
Jesus died and rose that you might know his love,
and be forgiven.

Those are powerful lyrics. I really love the song and I loved singing it. I hope you enjoy listening to it as well.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending your son to die and rise again that we might know his love, his peace and your forgiveness. Forgive us of our sins and help us remain as white as snow. Continue with us on this Lenten journey, Lord, that we might listen to your words and the words of those you have inspired and learn from them.
In the name of Jesus the Christ,
Amen

Question for reflection: Do you have a song that inspires you during this Lenten season?

  1. Rochelle Says:

I think right now the one that inspires me the most is Who am I. Every time I hear or even think about that song, I really do wonder who I am. Why on EARTH am I special to Him? But, I know I am. And that’s just amazing to me.
