Day 90: Bleeding Heart Jesus
Today was Divine Mercy Sunday, so this banner was hanging up on the altar. The red and the blue lines coming out from his heart are supposed to signify blood and water, but I think it looks more like Jesus took a bullet to the chest, so I nicknamed him “Bleeding Heart Jesus”. I’m nothing if not irreverant. I think it stems from my non-Catholic upbringing.
Anyway, the banner is based on the Divine Mercy painting, a copy of which hangs on the wall next to the choir area and which I have nicknamed “Star Wars Jesus” because to me it has a great resemblance to lightsabers aiming at his heart. I guess it goes to prove that you can take the girl out of the non-denominational church, but you can’t (totally) take the non-denominational church out of the girl. And also? It’s a good thing God has a sense of humor.

I am glad you have a sense of humour too, the banner looks very well done but at first I was trying to figure out why and how Jesus had sprung a leak!
