Day 122: Wombat Stew

Wombat Stew

When I first started teaching, I taught kindergarten enrichment, which was a fancy way of saying that I taught the kindergarteners whose parents paid for them to be there a full day instead of just a half day. They would come to me either in the morning before their regular class or in the afternoon after their regular class. The cool thing about enrichment was that I got to build my own curriculum and make it whatever I wanted it to be.

One of the things we did was to study different countries. One of the countries we studied was Australia, and we read a delightful book called Wombat Stew which is about how a dingo catches a wombat and decides to make stew out of him. Wombat’s friends suggest all sorts of crazy things to add to the stew which makes it taste so bad that he can’t eat it, thus Wombat is saved.

To go along with the book, I came up with my own special recipe for “Wombat Stew”, but trust me, it’s very yummy!
