Project 365 Topic #34: Sports

Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on August 18th, 2008 by Karin

Since I seem to have the Olympics on the brain right now, I guess we may as well go with it! So this week’s topic is Sports as well as Olympics, gold, silver, bronze, and anything else you can think of that goes with it!

Phelpsian Pheat

Another one of my lame last minute Sunday photos, but this is what I had on my mind all day long!

Day 229: Can I Take Your Order?

Can I Take Your Order?

Someone’s dad brought her this playhouse (which he got free as a friend was giving it away). Someone loves it! Someone’s dad thinks that it should stay in the house. Someone’s mom (that would be me) has vetoed that, although it’s staying inside for the time being until the Monsoon season is mostly over. And until we figure out where we’re going to put it outside.

Day 227: Lightning

Lightning

To get lightning shots, I set the camera (on tripod) on a 15 second exposure and click and hope that at some point when the shutter is open, there is lightning. For this one, I tweaked the contrast and brightness to make it look more like what we saw, since long exposures let in a lot more light. Too bad we didn’t get any rain here, though!

Day 226: Mexican Bird of Paradise

Mexican Bird of Paradise

This plant makes me smile. We had planted a few of these a few years back and due to where we planted them, the weather, not getting enough water, etc, etc, they died. Or so we thought. This Spring, we noticed one coming up along the road where we’d planted one of them way back when. No idea why it decided to come back all of a sudden, but it did and it bloomed. And those blooms definitely make me smile.

Back Up

If you tried to get here and couldn’t, it was because I was apparently having some issues with a plugin, but it looks solved for now. *crosses fingers*

I was going to get the Linky Love post up this morning, but I’ve got a meeting this afternoon, so it will have to wait until tomorrow probably!

Day 225: Sleepy

Asleep on the Floor

I did actually take this on Day 225, but I’m posting it the next morning and post-dating. I guess I’m a little too caught up in the Olympics and Michael Phelps (who LG knows by sight) and I forgot to post it last night. It might happen again before the Olympics are over.

LG has been allowed to stay up later than usual this week because of those Olympics and it obviously caught up to her. It got really quiet in the house and I called her and called her, but she didn’t answer. I got up to look for her and found her asleep on the floor at the foot of my bed. And who could resist a non-moving 3 year old subject?

Day 224: Ballerina Girl

Ballerina Girl

You may remember this post in which I waxed philosophical after LG refused to participate in her tap class. Well, what a difference 5 months makes! Today was the first day of “formal” weekly dance classes. It helped a lot that she had her best little friend in class with her. It helped that she had new dance shoes and a new leotard. But I think being 5 months older helped even more. She’s been better at engaging with people she doesn’t know well and not as shy and fearful in new situations. So my heart is much happier today. She did a fabulous job. And boy, can my kid point her toes!

Project 365 Topic #33: Smile!

This is National Smile Week, so your topic for the week is “smile”. I hope that you smile when you’re taking photos this week!
