365 Days #181 - Twofer Tuesday

Pink Sunglasses

Little Girl got a new pair of sunglasses today!

Ferruginous Hawk

This hawk was sitting on our neighbor’s fence when we got home this afternoon. The car scared it away, but I watched it land on the power pole in our back yard. As soon as we pulled into the garage, I ran through the house, grabbed the camera and stepped outside the bedroom door. I used full digital zoom and took a shot or two, then a few steps forward, until she (or he) got uncomfortable and took off. I wish I hadn’t cut off her wing in the shot, but still, it’s not every day you get a chance to get that close to a hawk!

I believe this to be a ferruginous hawk, but if anyone knows better, please let me know!

Taken April 17, 2007. Little Girl at 28 months.

That’s an awesome shot!! Birds are very hard to photograph, I have come to find out. I’m running through my house looking for the camera just like you do, hoping the subject won’t fly off before I get ready.
