Day 287: Recumbent Reflection

Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on October 13th, 2008 by Karin

I opened the dictionary and found the word recumbent:

Recumbent

re•cum•bent adj. Lying down, wholly or partly. 2. Resting; inactive.

And there was LG taking a nap. Who could resist? But then I looked farther down the page and found the word reflect:

Reflection

re•flect v.t. 1. To turn or throw back, as rays of light, heat, or sound. 2. To produce a symmetrically reversed image of, as a mirror.

Project 365 Topic #42: Discovery

Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on October 13th, 2008 by Karin

Since today is Columbus Day and Thursday is Dictionary Day, I thought I’d give you a different kind of challenge this week. Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to open the dictionary, and take a photo that pictures something from the page you opened the dictionary to. So, for instance, if you open the dictionary to the page that starts with “periodic” and ends with “personality”, you could choose any word on that page and take a photo to go with that word. I think I will try and do a different word each day, but if you want to pick one word and use it for the week, well no problem with that. So have fun with your discoveries in the dictionary!

Pumpkins

Our parish’s pumpkin patch opened this weekend. There are all kinds of cool and weird pumpkins there. I’ll be sharing the ones we bought at a later date!

Day 285: Gecko

Gecko

We went to Railfair today at the Railroad Park and LG saw a little boy with a gecko painted on his arm and had to have one. We searched out the face painting tent and she got her gecko. I was actually kind of surprised because (and those who know her well will attest to this) she doesn’t normally like people she doesn’t know to touch her (which is probably a good thing really), but she wanted that gecko badly enough to let the nice lady paint her arm. And she didn’t freak out one little bit! The weather today, by the way, was simply awesome. Well, it was windy, but who cares? It was a nice cool wind and the coolness felt soooo good!

Here are more pictures from our day at Railfair (Click through to see notes and info.):

Orange Book About Green

I realized almost too late that I didn’t have a picture for the day. Then I saw this book on the bed and decided it was providence! ;)

Sleeping in an Orange Shirt

LG doesn’t nap very often these days, but when she does I think she’s playing catch up because she’ll usually sleep about four hours.

Project 365 Topic #41: Orange

Another fall color! I’m selfishly saving the autumn topic for the week when we are going out of town to where fall actually exists. And hopefully it gives all of you more time to get more pretty fall color. But in the meantime, orange it is!
