Day 305: Trick or Treat!

Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on October 31st, 2008 by Karin

Trick or Treat

Though this is her 4th(!) Halloween, this was the first year that LG was really interested in the going door to door trick or treating. The past three years, we’ve just taken her to Grandma’s and to few friend’s houses. I wasn’t sure that she wouldn’t be overcome with shyness, but she did a great job! We drilled her on the script all day: “Trick or treat! Thank you! Happy Halloween!” and though she was easily lured off script by chatty candy givers, she had a great time. We started at a friend’s house in our neighborhood and did the horseshoe street that she lives on and that was about enough for her. She was ready for Dad to take her candy bucket and carry it near the end. It was surprisingly heavy considering she carried it a long way by herself! She was a cute little dinosaur!

(And yes, the temps were in the 90s during the day, so shorts were appropriate!)

Dinosaur and Dogosaur

We did our yearly Halloween photo shoot today. LG wanted to be a “happy dinosaur” and as you can see, she is! The best part is that she really “gets” the whole concept of Halloween this year. :)

Day 300: Lynx Lake

Lynx Lake

We stopped by this lake yesterday afternoon, but LG had fallen asleep in her car seat, so we decided to come back this morning before we left so she could enjoy it. There were a few fishermen, a few boats, a couple of families, but basically it was also peaceful and beautiful. And LG got to see lots of birds!

There was a crowd of ducks and a goose. There was a Great Blue Heron. There were many sapsuckers. And we even saw an Osprey. Of course, I was so entranced by watching it fly that I totally forgot to pick up my camera and try to get a photo. I guess sometimes it’s better to just enjoy the moment.

The Leaves Are Changing Somewhere!

So nice to see some fall color! This is at the Sharlot Hall Museum and if you look, you can see people getting the gazebo ready for a wedding!

Granite Basin Lake

The three of us enjoyed a weekend getaway up to Prescott the past few days. We went to a couple of lakes to enjoy the great outdoors. We did the Sharlot Hall Museum tour. We visited my aunt. And we just generally enjoyed some time away from everything. This is where we went after we checked into our hotel. We were basically the only ones there and it was quiet, peaceful and beautiful.

Before we left we enjoyed the Pumpkin Festival at the Desert Botanical Garden…

Another last minute photo: I found these in the dollar section at Target and I really love them, especially the Sugared Pear.
