Day 213: What Is It #3 and Wednesday’s Answer

Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on July 31st, 2008 by Karin

What do you think this is?

What Is It?

Yesterday, you all figured out that it was a ball from an electric typewriter. I think we still have a Selectric around here somewhere, unless we got rid of it. I’ll brag on myself just a bit and tell you that I used to type 120 words a minute back in the day!

Day 212: What Is It #2 and Monday’s Answer

I found this on the desk. No idea why it was there, but I thought it would make an interesting mystery photo…

Day 211: Baby Guinness

Baby Snake

Mike found this little guy in the laundry room last night. He and LG took him up by the Rock Art Center and released him this evening. He’ll have plenty to eat and hopefully won’t become dinner for another animal before he’s big enough to take care of himself. I’m not even going to talk about how not happy I was to know there was a snake in my laundry room. (We called him Baby Guinness in honor of this guy who some of our friends named Guinness before he was released at the Rock Art Center.)

You can see how small he is in this picture…

What Is It?

My macro function was not cooperating with me as well as I would have liked, but hopefully you get the idea. What do you think this is?

Project 365 Topic #31: Mystery

Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on July 28th, 2008 by Karin

It’s hot and sticky and I just don’t have a lot of inspiration these days, so I thought maybe it would be fun to play a little game this week. (And who knows, if it goes well, we might play it again later in the year.) The game is basically for you to take a photo and crop it in such a manner that it’s not easily recognizable. Then see if your blog visitors can guess what it is! Oh, and don’t forget to post the non-cropped version after they’ve had time to guess.

Day 209: Box of Many Colors

Box of Many Colors

I love this time of the year - school supplies on sale! This box of crayons was 22¢ at Wal-Mart. I need to go back and get about 10 more I think. Preschoolers are tough on crayons! (She opened this one yesterday.)

Day 208: Piano Man

Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on July 26th, 2008 by Karin

Piano Man

I have loved music and singing my whole life. When I met Mike in college, it seemed like a match made in heaven because he played the piano for me - my own personal accompanist! And it was. Mike is my musical other half. Sometimes we bicker like crazy when we are working on writing a song or working on an arrangement, but we make each other better. Musical soul mates I guess you could say. I’m glad I have him to share music with.

And a bonus shot - not a very good picture, but it made me laugh. This one is called “Piano Man - Interrupted”.

Day 207: Music in My Head

Stuck in My Head

We saw Mamma Mia! last night and for some reason I was compelled to listen to ABBA music all. day. long. (Loved the movie, by the way!)

Day 206: Texas Sage

Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on July 24th, 2008 by Karin

Texas Sage

I was beginning to think that my Texas Sage was defective, since I’d never seen it bloom, but lo and behold, the other day I noticed buds all over it and now look at it! We had a huge one of these at the house I grew up in, so this feels like a piece of my childhood home.
