Day 120: Fire Bear
Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on April 29th, 2008 by KarinLG woke up in the middle of the night with a fever and had it off and on all day. She slept a lot and was pretty mellow, which, if you know her, is unusual. I dosed her with Tylenol and Ibuprofen throughout the day after I got home from my hair appointment.
While I was at the salon, our neighborhood fire truck made its rounds in the neighborhood. Mike carried LG outside to see it when it came down our little street and made its 3 point turn in the cul-de-sac. The driver spotted them and stopped so that one of the other firefighters could come over and give her this little bear which she calls “Fire Bear”.
I guess you could say I grew up in the fire department. My dad was a firefighter even before he and my mom got married. His dad was a firefighter and three of his brothers-in-law were firefighters as well. There’s even a picture of me as a baby sitting on the back of a fire truck on top of a stack of turnout coats with my hand on my dad’s helmet. It was always a source of pride for me that my family was so well represented on the Phoenix Fire Department, so knowing that they made the effort to make my daughter smile today, on a day when she didn’t feel very well, makes me smile, too.

Day 119: Bright White Lines
Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on April 28th, 2008 by KarinThis plane flew over while we were outside watering the garden this evening. The contrails were so bright, so pristinely white, that they really caught my eye. It’s hard to see how bright they were in a photo, so you’ll just have to take my word for it!

Project 365 Topic #18: Bright
Posted in Project 365 Topics on April 28th, 2008 by KarinLast week, I dutifully wrote my topic post on Sunday and set it to publish early Monday morning and for some reason it didn’t. And for various reasons, I didn’t notice it until later in the week. It is Sunday afternoon as I type this and I’m again going to set this to post early Monday morning, and hopefully it will work this time, but if not, I will be checking as soon as I wake up on Monday morning to see if it did! (It didn’t. Back to the drawing board.)
This week’s topic is Bright. At first I was going to limit it to bright colors, being Spring and all, and the world being filled with bright colors, but then I realized bright could be a lot of things - bright lights, bright smiles, etc., so we’ll stick with the broader topic of bright and see what you can come up with! Have fun!
Day 117: Afternoon Delight
Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on April 26th, 2008 by KarinNot a lot of photo ops today, but the afternoon sun provided me with this shot of a gazania.

Day 116: Cholla Blossom
Posted in Project 365+1 2008 on April 25th, 2008 by KarinAbout three weeks ago, I showed you this. I’ve been trying to get a good shot of the blossom, but I keep missing them by a day. Today, however, I had some luck and so you get to see the pretty Cholla blossom. I always think it’s amazing that something as mean looking as a cactus can have such delicate pretty blossoms. Nature is truly amazing.

Project 365 Topic #17: Nature
Posted in Project 365 Topics on April 24th, 2008 by KarinWell, I thought this had published on Monday, but for whatever reason it didn’t. So it’s late - VERY late, and for that I apologize!
Tomorrow is Tuesday was Earth Day in the Northern Hemisphere and Friday is Arbor Day in the United States, so in honor of those two days, this week’s topic is: Nature. This is pretty wide open and since it’s Spring (although I’ve heard tell of snow in some parts - what’s up with that?), it seems like a great time to celebrate nature in all her glory.
