My favorite photo for February is Day 49: Gaze on Ya
We had some fun trying to capture jumps on the camera this morning. But my favorite picture of the day is the one with the crazy hair…

It was my day to see hawks I guess. On the way home from my doctor’s appointment this morning, I saw eight of them circling around as I was stopped at a light. Then when I turned down our street, I saw this pair fly off from where they were probably sitting on our fence. They ended up perched up on this cross on the dome of the church right down our street. I parked the car in the garage and ran inside to grab the camera, then walked down the street to a better vantage point, snapping photos as I went. They were in a cooperative mood today it seems. I only wish I had a better lens to capture them with. This is full digital zoom and the quality is not the best, but I think it’s still cool to see them perched up there.
After awhile my patience was rewarded and one of them flew off giving me the chance to quickly snap this shot…
And not too long after that, the other one flew away…
By the way these particular hawks are Harris’s Hawks. And did you know that a group of hawks is sometimes called a “spiraling of hawks”? After watching eight of them soaring around together this morning, I can see why.

It was one of those days where it doesn’t seem like much is going on, but you still don’t get anything done. It was also windy and so not the best day for photography. On top of that, when I went outside to try and take some garden shots, I discovered aphids on my one of my rose bushes, so I abandoned the camera to deal with that. So, you get kind of a boring shot, but at least it’s something.

Also, I realized the other day that I didn’t have an About Me page on this blog, so I added one today.
Since Friday is Leap Day, something that only occurs every four years, this week’s topic, should you choose to accept it, is: Time. I can think of many ways to illustrate time with a camera, but I’m leaving it up to you to be creative and surprise us with what you come up with. You can also throw in “leap” or “jump” if you so choose. Have fun!
I had a really hard time choosing which photo to use today. We had a great time out in the backyard while Mike was pulling the weed jungle from Melody’s dog run and our path to the back yard. But this one just makes me smile, so it won out in the end. You can see we’ve received a fair amount of rain this winter, as the weeds are starting to take over, but it sure makes everything look pretty and green! She is wearing her gloves, not because it is cold (it was slightly overcast, but in the high 60s), but because Mike was wearing gloves to pull the weeds and she had to be just like Daddy!

Today I had nothing to photograph. So, I started scouting around the house for interesting things to take pictures of and found a music box that my friends had brought me from Italy. I didn’t have a lot of luck getting any good photos of the music box for various reasons, but then Little Girl saw the box and got very interested in it as you can see here. In the end she saved the day, because at least I had one photo I kind of liked for today!
