Day 19: Two Became One

Two Became One

Today was our 17th wedding anniversary. Little Girl was invited to a birthday party (well we all were) for one of her friends, but I didn’t particularly want to spend what little time I had with my hubby today at a birthday party, so Marlene (bless her), who was also going to the party, offered to take LG with them. So LG got to go and we got to have lunch alone. Alone! That is so rare these days! lol!

After lunch at Macaroni Grill (served by Rochelle, of course), I had asked Mike to take me somewhere that I could take some photos, and since we needed to do a little exercise, and we’d never been there before, but had been wanting to go, and also because it was really close to where we were, we went to the Deer Valley Rock Art Center. The Center is a preservation area for the Hedgpeth Hills petroglyph site.

I think what really was profound about this visit is to think that these people who lived thousands of years ago and had no technology to speak of, are able to communicate with the future just by these simple, yet beautiful, rock drawings they left behind. It’s pretty amazing to imagine people living not too far away from where we live and making these drawings, graffiti if you will, that we are viewing millenniums later. Pretty awesome. We came across an older couple on the trail who were visiting from the far east part of town and had a really nice little chat with them along the way. Click here for more photos of our visit to the rock center.

And finally, I leave you with a picture of the three of us after we came home this afternoon. Seventeen years ago, two people became one entity. And almost 14 years after that, two became three. You can’t get to three without two after all. And three? Three is a magic number.
