January Retrospective

I stole this idea from several other people, but hopefully imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

My favorite photo for January was Day 25: She Makes Me Smile.

Day 31: Princess of the Dirt Mound

Princess of the Dirt Mound

Little Girl is standing in a hole in the dirt mound in our front yard. Why is there a dirt mound in our front yard? Who knows? But, this was taken at my favorite time of the day to take pictures - as the sun is sinking slowly in the west. The setting sun casts such a warm ethereal glow on everything. It feels like a magical time to me. Certainly magical for my camera.

Day 30: “When in doubt wear red.” - Bill Blass

Hair Tutu

We saw these Valentine-themed pony tail holders at the grocery store today in red, white or red and white. When LG saw them, she immediately wanted them so she could be a “princess”. They were inexpensive, so I let her pick what color she wanted and she chose red. She wore them for quite awhile after we got home, but sooner or later they found they way onto her little Elmo toy. ;)

Day 29: Broom Tail

Hobby Horse

This is the hobby horse that I used when I was a little girl and that LG is using now when she wants to be a “cowgirl”. It definitely needs some cleaning up, but I think it’s pretty cool that she is able to enjoy something I enjoyed when I was around her age.

Sun in Clouds

It rained all day long yesterday. Today there was no rain, but we still have a lot of lingering clouds along with the sunshine.

Project 365 Topic #5: Red

Posted in Project 365 Topics on January 28th, 2008 by Karin

Having had various and assorted heart issues most of my life, the American Heart Association is near and dear to my heart you might say. Friday, February 1, is National Wear Red Day, so in honor of that, this week’s topic is “Red”! (A lot easier than last week, I think!)

And don’t forget to wear red on Friday!

Gecko

It’s cold and rainy here today. This little guy was on our front doorstep when I went outside to take some raindrop shots. I didn’t actually see him when I walked outside, but Mike and LG (who followed me out) did. He was both cold and probably terrified of us so he didn’t move and let me get nice and close with my macro setting and then I cropped this way in so you could see the detail. Below you can see a shot of him on Mike’s hand to see his size. Mike let him warm up a bit and then put him in one of the planters so he had a warmer place to wait out the rain.

Day 26: Two Heads Are Better than One

Two Headed Horse

We went for a little walk around our neighborhood today, and I noticed all sorts of interesting things, including this two-headed horse. Okay, okay, it’s really two horses standing at just the right angle. But it made you look twice didn’t it? ;) (Psst…click on the purple words up there for more pictures!)

Day 25: She Makes Me Smile

She Makes Me Smile

Had Little Girl waited until her due date to be born, today she would have turned 3 years old. She’s bright, funny, adorable, sweet, stubborn and I wouldn’t trade her for anything.
