Frozen in Time

This is a special tree that Mike planted today and not just because he had some “help” from Little Girl. This tree grew from seed from the pine tree in the front yard of the house I grew up in. My dad had this tree in a pot at his house, but wanted to get rid of it, so Mike took it, partly because he wanted a tree to plant, but mostly because he knew it would mean something to me. Mike is not always the most romantic person in the world, but for me to have this tree that’s a piece of the home I shared with my parents, is something really special and important to me, and he knew that. I think I will keep him. :)

We were in the backyard today with my father (who had come to visit) and I looked up at the tree we were all gathered next to, and saw this dove sitting there so peacefully. We could have reached out and touched her had we moved a few feet. And even when I did get closer to her, she stayed put. She (or he) was either too terrified to move or was just as interested in watching us as we were in watching her.

We went to the Phoenix Zoo today. It was cold, but fun!

We got most of what we were looking for - Hallmark ornaments and icicle lights. (Not the diaper bag, though…lol!)

I couldn’t get her to smile, but I still think she is adorable!

I started these last year after Christmas and we finally finished them today. The top shot is before we added the embellishments. The middle shot is the front of the stockings. Mike’s is the piano keys, LG’s is the horse, mine is the quarter note and Melody’s is the bone. The bottom shot is the back of the stockings. The stockings themselves are made from felt and the embellishments all came from my stash of scraps from my quilts. I really love how they turned out!
